The food at Folly is definitely creative and unique. When I had the chance to pick out of a list of 15 restaurants, participating in Dubai Restaurant Week (DRW) I went for Folly by Nick and Scott, because I was keen on experiencing a proper three course meal at this contemporary hot spot.
First of all, the setting is mesmerising. The restaurant has multiple terraces and is a great place to catch the sunset. We were lucky, because we arrived at dusk, so all the fairy lights were switched on.
The DRW menu allows you to choose one of the two dishes offered per course, so my dining buddy and I decided to get one of everything and share all the dishes.
Our first course was a puffed jasmine rice in Marmite wrapped with a courgette. The dish was light with different textures, which gave it a bit of a bite. However, I think I am one of the people who isn’t too crazy about Marmite, therefore eagerly looked forward to the second course.
As an egg lover, I enjoyed the second course, which consisted of fried bread with sage, on an onion and spelt puree and a dish featuring crispy hen’s egg with morels (a type of mushroom) and vinegar caramel. I ate the egg together with the bread.

Our main course was a perfectly cooked lamb saddle, with whipped pine nuts and salsa, while the vegetarian option was a plate of white beans, smoked celeriac truffle and girolles.
The dessert is the winner at Folly, offering was a chocolate, hazelnut and malt cake or an elderflower and apple cheesecake. If you only had to choose one, I would likely pick the latter. Rich, tangy, refreshing and a great end to the meal.
