When UAE events organisers notice a trend, they really go all out. But we’re not complaining.

Another endurance/obstacles course event is coming to town. This time it’s Tough Mudder, which is making its Middle East debut on December 9 and 10 at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai. The endurance race, which was first held in the US in 2010, will feature two courses, an 8km one and a 16km one. Each course will be filled with obstacles that will test participants’ physical fitness, mental toughness and teamwork.

Well-known Tough Mudder obstacles to feature in the UAE version include the Arctic Enema 2.0, an icy water plunge; the Block-Ness Monster, a challenge where participants have to climb several rotating slippery blocks in knee-high water; and the Electroshock Therapy, a sprint through a mud-filled course filled with live electric wires dangling that will give racers a shock.

There will also be a 1.5km Mini Mudder for children aged between seven and 13.

“As the seminal obstacle event in the world, we are proud to bring Tough Mudder to the Middle East for the first time,” said Hala Badri, the executive vice-president of brand and communications at du, the organisers of the event.

The UAE already has the Desert Warrior Challenge and the Spartan Race, held across the country multiple times a year.

Tickets are priced Dh225 for the 8km and Dh350 for the 16km. VIP tickets including special parking slots and food coupons are also available. Go to toughmudder.ae.
