Organisers of the first ever Arab Indo Bollywood Awards (Aiba) have confirmed that Bollywood star Salman Khan will attend the star-studded event on May 29 at Meydan in Dubai. The confirmation comes after the actor released an eight-second video late Friday night saying he was on his way to the city.

“As far as we are concerned, all his papers are in order, and we have been assured that he’s coming,” Habeeb Rahman, the managing director of Benchmark Media told tabloid! on Sunday. Rahman’s company, along with Al Bustan Events, are organising the awards night. Other Bollywood stars who are expected to attend include Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prabhudeva, Pareeniti Chopra, and Neha Dhupia among others.

But Khan’s inclusion as one of the star performers of the night have made headlines after his conviction earlier this month in a hit-and-run case dating back to 2002. The actor was found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years in jail. But the Mumbai High Court granted him bail with a condition that he must seek the court’s permission every time he wants to leave the country.

A decision is expected to be made this week.

“I’m going to be in Meydan Dubai on the 29th of May for the Arab Indo Bollywood Awards. See you there,” Khan says in the video, which was filmed in Kashmir, where the actor recently spent a month filming his latest action film.

Tickets to the event start at Dh200 and are available on platinumlist.net
