Rapper Russ to perform in Dubai for first time
His concert launches a new hip-hop brand titled 1520
Atlanta rapper Russ is heading to town for his first UAE concert. The What They Want and Losin Control singer will perform at Golden Tulip Hotel in Al Jazeer Ghantoot on April 29.
The concert will launch a new organiser and brand titled 1520, which highlights the “current global renaissance of urban culture” and the deep history of hip-hop, according to a press release. It will also encourage international acts to visit the Middle East and local acts to pursue their skill.
The brand names itself after 1520 Sedgewick Avenue, a spot in New York that is recognised as the birthplace of hip-hop.
Russ, 1520’s first live act, has previously performed in Lebanon.
Tickets are Dh250-Dh550. Doors open at 6pm. Russ is expected to perform at 9pm.
