Zia Mohyeddin, legendary Pakistani actor and literary figure, will conduct a poetry recital and prose reading at the Madinat Theater in Souk Madinat Jumeirah on November 29.
He will also be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award on the same night for his contribution to his native cultural scene.
The event is a part of Sounds of the Soil, a series of creative collaborations that will bring classical entertainment in the UAE.
“Zia Mohyeddin is a living legend revered for his readings of Urdu letters and literature... Credited with taking the art of recitation to unprecedented heights, his performance, which will include narration of poetry and prose, marked by an astute mastery of style, tone, and rhythm, is certain to enchant and delight Dubai’s discerning audience,” Ayesha Imtiaz, founding Director of Poetic Strokes, said in a statement.
Mohyeddin, who studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, rose to prominence as an actor in the 1960s on Broadway theatre and has acted in serials including The Family Pride. He’s famous for his oratory skills.
Tickets cost Dh150, Dh250 and Dh500.
