After their last production Dracula, Dubai-based theatre group Danu return with a full-length original play, Burke & Hare.

The play, written and directed by Sean O Suilleabhain, is based on true events that took place in Edinburgh over a ten-month period between 1827 and 1828, when surgical and scientific practises were advancing rapidly, but medical colleges did not have a sufficient supply of cadavers for their anatomy teaching. As colleges were prepared to pay for a freshly preserved corpse, body-snatchers or resurrection men came up plenty. When two Irish immigrants, William Burke and William Hare, realised how profitable this trade could be, they decided to get one step ahead and decided to try murder.

Burke & Hare will be at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue from December 8 to 10. Tickets start at Dh60 at tixbox.com. Call 04-3388525.
