Writer-director Sarim Irfan’s In Sickness and in Wealth will be one of the top 40 plays to be staged during the Short + Sweet Dubai theatre festival being held at The Junction Theatre in Al Quoz and Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat, from January 29 to March 11.

Taking a satirical look at the phenomenon of arranged marriages in the Asian culture and how it can lead to funny revelations on the wedding night, the play, co-directed by Khayyam Khalid, features Indian film and TV actress Svetlana Mishra (Balika Vadhu, Flat 211, Main Bhi Chalna Chahti Hoon) and Dubai-based theatre enthusiast Deepak Venugopal. It will be held on January 29 and 30 at 7.30pm at The Junction.

The festival will feature more than 80 ten-minute plays and a finale that will be held at Madinat Theatre on March 11. For the full festival guide visit shortandsweet.org. For tickets go to thejunctiondubai.com/events/shortsweet-dubai-2016 or madinatjumeirah.etixdubai.com
