Award-winning Indian flute player Hariprasad Chaurasia is returning to Dubai with a performance at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel on October 1. A highly renowned classical musician, Chaurasia, whose repertoire is in Eastern Classical music, is often credited for his technical ability on the native instruments. He has been honoured with several awards, including the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of India, and the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) of France. He also serves as the artistic director of the world music department at the Rotterdam Music Conservatory in the Netherlands.
Panditji, as he is reverently called, will also play a couple of famous Arabic numbers, organisers said.
