Ramadan is a time of fasting, but not all can or do observe this. This year, there are more restaurants catering to those who eat during the day, from chains and fast-food outlets to hotels.

As a rule of thumb, most hotels only have one restaurant that is open all day during Ramadan, so be sure to call ahead and check.

The Ajman Palace: Encore Bistro is serving breakfast (7am-12pm) and lunch (12-6pm). Call 06-7018888.

Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa: Armani/Mediterraneo will have an a la carte menu for lunch during Ramadan. Breakfast buffet, Dh150, 6.30am-11am. Call 04-8883444.

At.mosphere: Ramadan-inspired Late High Tea at the top of the Burj Khalida, with modern takes on Arabic favourites: basterma and zaatar quiche, date scones with date marmalade and clotted cream, and a selection of Arabic sweets, Dh290 per person, from 5.30-7.30pm. Call 04-8883828.

Carluccio’s: Marina Mall branch is open for take away and home delivery 11am until iftar. All other branches (Mirdif City Centre, Deira City Centre and Dubai Mall), open from Iftar until mall closing.

The Ivy: Weekdays from 9am-4pm and 6.30pm-midnight. Weekends 6.30pm–midnight.

The Noodle House: Open as usual at Jumeriah Emirates Towers, DIFC and Madinat Jumeriah; Dubai Mall 7pm-3am.

Pantry Café: Open from 10am until late serving a bespoke take-away menu (select beverages, desserts, salads, sandwiches and pizzas). Iftar set menu only from sunset-8.30pm, after which entire Pantry Café menu will be available.

Le Meridien Mina Seyahi and Westin Dubai: Horizion has normal operations with background music, noon–5pm. Latest Recipe is serving buffet breakfast, 6-10.30am (11am Fri-Sun), a la carte lunch (noon-3pm) and a la carte dinner (6.30-11pm). Call 04 3993333 for and 04 511 7136 for Westin

Park Hyatt: Café Arabesque is open all day. Breakfast, 6.30-11.30am; lunch, 12.30-4pm; Iftar from sunset to 9.30pm.

Ramada Chelsea Hotel, Barsha: Seasons is serving a breakfast buffet from 7-10.30am and an a la carte lunch menu from noon-3pm. Call 04-5019000.

Urbano: Open noon-midnight, it’s the only place in Souk Al Bahar open during the day.

Wafi Pyramids: All restaurants — including Seville’s, Carter’s and Medzo — are open all day, everyday, during Ramadan. Call 04-3244100.

Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa: Fairways is doing breakfast (6.30-11am) and lunch (12:20pm to 3pm). Call 02-6169999.

Ultra Brasserie: The Emaar Square Building 4 restaurant is open for takeaway and delivery to offices throughout Emaar Square from 7am-5pm (no dine-in service).
