Abu Dhabi: Minister of Justice Dr Hadef Jua'an Al Daheri on Monday issued a ministerial resolution setting up the Shawwal moon-sighting committee for Hijri year 1431 to determine the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
The panel will be chaired by Al Daheri. Other members include Sultan Saeed Al Badi, undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department; Mohammad Hamad Al Badi, director-general of the Ministry of Justice; Dr Mohammad Mattar Salim Al Ka'abi, director general of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf); Dr Farouq Hamada, religious adviser at the court of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince; Mohammad Al Yadali, mufti at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), judges and others. ADJD's own moon-sighting panel will report its findings to the ministry's committee.
Holiday: Circular issued
Eid holidays for the private sector will be on the first and second day of Shawwal as per the Hijri calendar, according to a ministerial circular issued by Minister of Labour Saqr Gobash.
