This year’s Ramadan marks the first for Dusit Thani in Abu Dhabi, with the hotel opening just last year, and even though it is new to the scene when it comes to hosting iftar, Dusit Thani’s Urban Kitchen doesn’t feel like a rookie.

The iftar buffet serving at Urban Kitchen is mainly centred on Arab cuisine for those breaking their fast, with dishes such as lamb ouzi and chicken shish tauok, all cooked courtesy of a live kitchen, ensuring everything is fresh and tasty.

A variety of traditional side dishes are also available, such as kibbeh, cheese and meet samosas, as well as Arab salads such as fattoush and tabbouleh.

Chicken shawarma is also served, with restaurant goers having the option to either eat the freshly made chicken in the traditional Arabic bread, or to simply eat the chicken on it’s own — whichever choice you make, neither will disappoint.

For those looking to start their meal with soup, the iftar at Urban Kitchen has a different soup available daily, such as lentil soup or chicken parmesan soup.

Other cuisines

If you’re also looking to try out something else other than Arab dishes, there are some Far East dishes available, such as chicken noodles, and my personal favourite, the beef in black pepper sauce. For anyone who visits this restaurant, the beef in black pepper sauce is a must try.

Desserts are readily available as well, with traditional Arab sweets such as baklava and kenafeh. Other dessert dishes are available as well such as the chocolate tart, one I highly recommend.

All in all, you will feel very satisfied once you have had your iftar meal at Urban Kitchen, with the restaurant leaving a very good impression on you.
