If you’re looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of Dubai and want a relaxing iftar experience in a green countryside haven, then The Farm is just what you’re looking for.

They call themselves an “oasis of flavour and tranquility” and that is pretty accurate. Once you find your way off Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (old Emirates) road (I missed the turn twice and spent 15 minutes finding my way back) into Al Barari villas, which houses The Farm, it’s almost like entering another realm.

Where else in Dubai can you have dinner in the middle of waterways, botanical gardens and natural greenery?

Despite the name, it’s not an actual farm with livestock, but they do grow their own organic vegetables on site which adds to the farm-like experience.

They haven’t got a specific iftar menu, instead opting to put a slight twist on their seasonal selection. You can flick through their flexible iPad menu for a variety of combinations. This may suit the indecisive among you as you can mix and match to create your own unique dishes.

Starters

A splendid selection of starters whet the appetite well, including the tomato tatin which is stuffed with tapenade and goat cheese served with wild rocket. If you’re after a bit of seafood, the chili mussels are your best bet to start with. The organic green lip New Zealand mussels are cooked with sweet marinara sauce and topped with grated cheese flavoured with Thai chili.

For the main, I opted for the chef-recommended tenderloin with foie gras pastie and basil mash which turned out to be the perfect blend of flavours and contrasting textures on the plate. The soft mashed potato complimented the succulent pastie, delicate parcel of mushroom and the tough of the roasted centre beef meat. This, along with a side of organic broccoli stalks seasoned with garlic, chili flakes, walnuts and a drop of lemon were a delight on the tastebuds.

To go along with the delightful dinner, The Farm’s great mix of fresh juices are a must. Most importantly, The Farm allows you to enjoy quality time with friends and family and is a place where the body and soul can feel nourished.

But before you go into organic overload, make sure you try their lemon grass créme brûlée which is served with blueberry, lychee and blackcurrant compote. This fruity dessert hits the spot as the cream melts in your mouth and the fruit dances on your tongue to ensure you’re fully satisfied.
