HCT reduces energy by 29% with Etisalat’s EES program

Dubai: Telecom operator Etisalat announced on Monday that the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) has saved around 29 per cent of energy since implementing its Emirates Energy Star programme.

“Our customers are seeing cost reduction and we are improving the environment,” Abdullah Ahmad Al Hashim, senior vice president of information and communication technology told Gulf News during Gitex Technology Week.

HCT saved 2,431 tonnes of carbon dioxide in four months since the implementation of the EES program four months ago, which resulted in energy savings of 4,120Mwh till last month.

The program, launched two years ago, has recorded energy savings of 43.8m Kwh, according to a company statement.

The EES program involves equipping buildings with machine-to-machine (M2M) sensors and managed energy monitoring services to help reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint in the UAE.
