When you think Europe, there are a few cities that immediately jump to mind; Paris, Prague, Vienna, Frankfurt. But what about those other insanely beautiful places that might cost you less to stay in and still give you an amazing and somewhat tourist free vacation. Here is our list of our favourite underrated European cities that you have to visit in your lifetime.

1. Cork, Ireland

Dublin, the capital of Ireland is an amazing place, but Cork is a city that’s quirky in its own way. It is super very easy to navigate, the local community is very friendly and very laid back. Cork is also full of great restaurants and pubs. If you’re a foodie, this one is definitely for you!

2. Bruges, Belgium



Most people who think of Belgium, head to Brussels. But this city has gained substantial popularity since the release of the movie “In Bruges” 8 years ago. This historic coastal city has amazing architecture and gorgeous canals. It also has some culturally significant art, since Michelangelo’s ‘Madonna and Child’ sculpture is located there.

3. Split, Croatia

This spectacular seaside town has a great mix of history and modernity. Split is a historical city and the home of Diocletian’s Palace and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while a more modern area in town is filled with bars, restaurants and great stores for some shopping. We also love the mountain views.

4. Odense, Denmark



Odense is a cute and quirky town on the island of Funen in Denmark. This town looks like it is drawn out of a story book. There’s a cool open air museum, an amazing little Zoo and cute corner side cafes and restaurants that will fulfil any foodies' seafood desires.

5. Valencia, Spain



Valencia is often overlooked, because of the popularity of its sister cities, including Barcelona, Madrid and of course Mallorca. Valencia is quite close to the island of Ibiza, so is a great place to have a peaceful stopover before heading to the party island. The city has incredible architecture, beautiful churches and huge plazas, museums and art galleries for the enthusiasts out there!

6. Innsbruck, Austria



This story book town located in the western part of Austria is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The city sits in a valley and is home to the Imperial palace. A perfect place for you to real experience the real Europe and enjoy an evening in a local pub.

7. Ljubljana, Slovenia

Literally every single person who has been to Ljubljana has said it was one of the most beautiful cities that they have ever seen. The natural colours of the city, the greenery, the icy blue waters and crisp bright sky make this a definite spot to head to when in Europe.

8. Heidelberg, Germany

This romantic city is so beautiful, anyone would fall in love. It is situated in a beautiful little valley of the Odenwald Mountains and has a picturesque river that runs through it. Heidelberg is notable for its Medical University and for the Heidelberg Castle. Make sure you walks through its famous historical old town.
