Being with someone you love may just be the best feeling in the world. You have a partner, you always have someone to hold your hand, cherish and take care of, and make you laugh when you are bored.

Then again, being alone and free to do what you want is also a feeling unlike anything else. So if you've been through a break up, you need to leave it all behind and find a way to reconnect with yourself.

Here are the 7 places you can go to find inner peace.

1. Krabi, Thailand

Forget the usually promoted Koh Samui and Phuket. Krabi is the spot that's not on everyone’s travel list. It's located in the Khlong Thom district and is home to hot natural water springs at a place they call the Emerald Pool. The hot springs flow down into a cool river. So let all those tears literally get washed away down the river and feel rejuvenated to start over.

2. Iguaza Falls, Argentina

These breath-taking waterfalls are located on the border of Argentina and Brazil. The park where the famous Iguazu Falls are situated, is just by the Paranaense Forest and is considered the home of one of the world’s largest waterfalls system with over 275 different cliff drops.

3. Juliet’s House, Verona, Italy

Check out the balcony where Romeo professed his love in Shakespeare’s tragedy. Want some good luck? You can also touch Juliet’s statue and leave a love letter on the nearby wall. Live in the world of Romeo and Juliet by exploring their 13th century house in Verona. Visit the house that holds the “Dal Cappello” or “Cappelletti” family name. Make sure you watch the film "Letters to Juliette" before you head there to get inspired.

4. Galway, Ireland

Have you ever seen the movie ‘Leap Year’? Fall in love with Ireland’s quaint towns and historic streets. Every September, the towns celebrate their oldest traditional festival, where people from around the globe come together for art, fun, music and dancing.

5. Bali, Indonesia

Depending on your kind of soul searching, you have options if you go to Bali. The island offers both the energetic and the spiritual escape. If you are into surfing, Canggu is a little piece of heaven to catch the waves. But if you wish to go even further away from the hustle of tourist ridden spots, then head to the spiritual centre of the island, Ubud. It's the place where you can find solitude and push all the negative feelings away.

6. Iceland

This is the country, where you can distance yourself from both your present and your past. Rent a small place at the Snaefellsnes peninsula. It will take you an hour at least to reach the nearest grocery store or restaurant. That's how far you'll be from civilisation. You can take part in a long day-long horse ride into the wilderness where you won't run into any cars or people.

You can also go hiking in the amazing area called Myvatn and visit Námafjall, which is a geothermal spot with fumaroles and boiling mud pools. If you are a thrill seeker, why not visit a volcano that could erupt at any time. Then again... if you have a broken heart...standing on the edge of a volcano might not be the best idea.

7. Palawan, Philippines

CNN Traveller has named this awe-inspiring island as the best island in the world for the second time in a row. Anyone who has been here can attest to the beauty and retreat the island has to offer. Getting back on track after a painful break up is effortless here.

Just book day tours for a mix of experiences. Find a budget hostel or an affordable small cottage where you can stay for days without gadgets to simply forget about what you left back home.
