Dubai’s food truck scene has a brand new addition, with Mexican themed food truck Maiz, which debuted at Kite Beach this month.
The Mexican word Maiz (it’s pronounced May-eez) means corn and represents the cornerstone ingredient of the Mexican food truck.
We went down there ourselves to try the authentic Mexican street-style tacos made with literally the freshest ingredients and corn tortillas.
As we walked up to the beach, we saw the brightly coloured truck and a cute seating area with the most instagrammable props. At the moment, the truck is temporarily stationed at Kite Beach to introduce itself to the public and give them a truly addictive, deeply satisfying taco experience. That taco experience was exactly what I needed after spending the morning swimming in the sea.
To start my meal I tried the crunchy Flautas, made with chicken, cilantro sour cream and a green tomatillo sauce. Other must try-items on the menu included the Pollo Asado, and Pastor Cargado to name a few, all of which were prepared using only the best and freshest of ingredients.
The tacos tasted really high quality. From the corn tortillas to the filling as well as the toppings and sauces. One of the special dishes that the truck prepares is the Al Pastor Sirloin, which is made with beef sirloin, grilled pineapple and roasted tomatillo salsa wrapped in a corn tortilla. Another must-try was the Costilla, Smoked BBQ Short Ribs with pickled radish and topped with red onions and roasted jitomates salsa.
The star dessert at Maiz was the Churros Lotus Ice Cream Sandwich, which is a must try according to everyone who has lived.
