Situated right in the middle of The Beach, Jumeirah Beach Residence, I walk into the spacious Bouchon Bakery to a delicious smell of baked goods wafting through the air. The restaurant is well lit and the gorgeous marble tables are instagrammable as heck. Dubai dwellers you are in for a treat this summer as world-renowned seven Michelin starred chef, Thomas Keller, brings his culinary skills to Dubai. The interiors have an antique style and a warm and inviting glow, with classic wood flooring.
The menu offers tonnes of options including a wide selection of breakfast beverages and pastries, which are the perfect morning pick-me-up. Whether you opt for Chef Keller’s custom-blended ‘TK by Equator’ coffee, espresso, iced or traditional teas, it’s all fresh and delicious.
As I decided what I what I would eat, I read through the menu, which highlighted a mouth-watering selection of freshly-made delectable sandwiches, soups, quiches and salads. I opted for turkey and cheese in a walnut bread with a side salad. I was told to go easy on the lunch, so I could have enough space to enjoy their amazing desserts. The sandwich was light, healthy and tasted super fresh.
Once it was time for dessert, it took me forever to decide, since I wanted to have everything on the menu! Some of the French classics included a semolina almond financier, rosewater Paris Brest and a lemon tart. I opted for the famous TKO cookie (Thomas Keller Oreo), which might I add, is in fact a Total Knock Out. A banana tarte and a perfectly packaged selection of light macarons with seven different flavours to choose from – including pistachio, coconut and saffron, as well as chocolate, vanilla and passionfruit.
With interiors created by famed designer Adam D. Tihany, a long-time friend and collaborator of Chef Keller’s, the bakery is a traditional interpretation of a French boulangerie, mirroring Chef Keller’s twist on classical French and American cuisine.
