Throughout the month of November Al Serkal is hosting cool design activations, talks and pop-up projects. Join us for a month of exhibitions, design activations, talks, and pop-up projects. The contemporary art galleries in the Avenue will show work by a strong selection of artists from across the region, with a number also participating in Abu Dhabi Art. Our design concepts will also present activations as part of Dubai Design Week.

Chill: Sunset sessions at the Waldorf Astoria

Food: Truckers Dubai

The food truck movement that started it all is back! As the weather starts to get cooler, Truckers DXB is all set to drive around the Emirates and serve delicious meals from around 60 food trucks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi until December 23.

The third season promises new concepts! In addition to a roster of home-grown food trucks serving authentic dishes put together in a ‘backyard party’ experience, you can get meals on wheels from different parts of town while enjoying a carnival environment at Ibn Battuta for week one of this awesome event.

Participating food trucks are: Calle Tacos, Swag, The Shebi, Casa Latina, Kono Pizza, Wingsters, Frings, Hotboxx, Wokinaki, Tandem, Sirloin & Sons, Moshi, and Yumtingz, to name a few.

Fun with kids: Wafi light and sound show

Audience members can Immerse themselves in an amazing convergence of light and sound where the tale of ‘The Return of the Pharaohs’ unfolds. This amazing attraction is a symphony of light and sound is projected across the Pyramids building in the Central Courtyard at Wafi Mall. The special effect of this show tells the story with anecdotes, sound and music.

If you’re really deep into art, then this is the exhibition for you. The topic of presentation is about Annotations of Interdisciplinary practices of the early 80s in the UAE. Annotations takes an experimental approach to presenting research and work-in-progress. This Studio focuses on the dynamic period of the early 1980s in the UAE and on the collaborative, multidisciplinary stance taken by artists, poets, playwrights, theatre directors and writers.

Try a new recipe: Bouchon Brownies

These amazing brownies are famous at the Bouchon Bakery in The Beach JBR. The Michelin Star Chef himself sent us his secret recipe to making these tasty treats at home. This recipe will yield you around 40 pieces. It should take you 15 minutes to prep, with a baking time of just 18 minutes.

Ingredients:

Eggs (room temperature): 3 eggs (188g)

Sugar: 2 cups of sugar (406g)

Salt: A pinch (2g)

Butter: 1 2/3 cups of melted butter.

Cool it down until it’s warm (35C)     

Sifted Cocoa powder ½ cup (125g)

Sifted flour ½ cup (125g)

Chocolate chips 240g

How to make it:

1. Preheat oven to 175C

2. In a stand mixer add eggs, sugar and salt, whisk on medium speed until combined.

3. Pour butter into the mixer, whisk until that is combined as well. 

4. Add in cocoa powder and flour

5. Add in chocolate chips, and whisk until all ingredients are evenly distributed

6. Pipe batter into round silicone molds or oil sprayed miniature muffin tins

7. Bake for approximately 18 minutes or until the tops spring back when touched

8. Allow to fully cool before un-molding
