Fireworks, water and light shows at Dubai Festival City

Residents and visitors are in for a spectacular climax of the Dubai Fitness Challenge final fitness carnivals at Dubai Festival City on Friday and Saturday, 17 and 18 November. The main stage area will celebrate some of the most inspiring stories of the city-wide fitness movement, with both carnival days culminating in a breath-taking water and light show and fireworks display that promises to light up the city’s skyline.

Among the weekend’s many highlights will be a Guinness World Record Attempt on Friday for the most number of people attempting jump squats. To add to the line-up, the exciting Dragon Boat racing is scheduled to take place on Friday 17 November from 1pm onwards. The much anticipated event will see teams of rowers ploughing through the sparkling waters around Dubai Festival City.

For the kids: Galleria’s children’s driving school

The Galleria on Al Maryah Island is gearing up to welcome friends and family to a special race themed event, ahead of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Children are invited to meet young Emirati professional race car drivers, Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi for some inspiring tips, before putting their skills into action on the racing track. This weekend, starting today, children aged 4 to 11, will be offered complimentary driving classes. Once trained, they will suit up for a ‘driving test’ on the specially formulated driving track outside on the spectacular waterfront promenade. A dedicated children’s arts and crafts area will also be set up for kids to test their creative skills with clay car moulding, mug drawing and painting, and car-themed colouring. On Thursday 16th November, from 5pm till 8pm, Amna and Hamda will start their engines with the little ones, giving them a jump start on mastering their racing skills.

Weekends at the Oasis

Taking place each Friday and Saturday until the end of March, the curated programme of activities will begin at 2pm and continue until 12am in the Western Plaza of Al Ain Oasis. Weekends at the Oasis will feature children’s workshops - with a range of arts and crafts projects for children of all ages to enjoy - as well as traditional cooking demonstrations.
