Dubai: The Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Dubai will now start providing free consultation services to help people improve their businesses.

Ahmad Shaikhani, the newly elected president of the PBC, told Gulf News that he would encourage Pakistani businessmen to contact the PBC office for advice in case they face any issues or they want guidance at any level. “My aim is to make the PBC as a bridge between the Pakistani businessmen and the rest of the world because Dubai is a business hub,” Shaikhani said.

Shaikhani, who also served as a director of the PBC during the last two years, was elected as the new president of the PBC this week. He is also managing director of the Shaikhani Group — a UAE based group of companies which deals in various sectors including real estate, construction, trading, manufacturing and logistics.

Shaikhani said that he would also hold regular awareness and educational seminars for the business community in the UAE and would invite officials and businessmen from Pakistan to UAE. “One of my objectives during the next two years of my tenure is to improve trade links between the UAE and Pakistan and attract more businesses to trade exhibitions in Dubai,” he added.

He said that the PBC would also facilitate Emirati and foreign businessmen who are interested in investing in Pakistan or have trade links with Pakistani businessmen. “We are also looking at improving bilateral trade between Pakistan and UAE,” he said.

He said that the newly elected body of the PBC, which operates under the banner of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comprises of some prominent businessmen. Some of the newly elected office- bearers of the PBC include: Kamran Ahmad Riaz, Vice President Legal Affairs and Fahad Salam, Vice President Finance. Prominent Pakistani businessmen including Atif Malik, Iskander Sultan Khwaja, Tahir Schon and Taimour Iqbal have been elected as directors.
