The price of the R7s is still to be determined; however, the device will be available in the MENA region next month.

Speaking about the device’s global announcement and on Dubai being the chosen location to do so, Katrina Li the Executive Director, OPPO Overseas Brand Management, said, “We say that China is a very important market to us, and Asia in general as well. However, this year, we are pushing into the Middle East, and announcing the device in Dubai is our way of showing that – instead of just saying that.”

Packed with 4GB RAM, the 5.5-inch device features a metal unibody, similar to the R7 series, a crystal-clear AMOLED 2.5D screen, a 3070mAh battery, Android 5.1 and an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

Zaid Matar, the Senior Director, Business Development at Qualcomm Technologies shed some light on the chipset saying, “OPPO and Qualcomm have worked together to optimise most of the features in the device. It is based on one of our first commercial chipsets to combine the 64-bit processor with LTE. This device is really state-of-the-art from that perspective.”

The device also features a dual-SIM card slot that supports expandable memory up to 128GB, and an impressive battery with Flash Charging technology that offers 2 hours of talk time with a 5-minute charge.

Smartphone photographers will be pleased with the R7s’ camera. The 13-MP rear camera powers up 30 per cent faster than before, delivering an auto focus time of as little as 0.1 second. The secondary front-facing camera is an 8-MP camera.

Starting November, the R7s will be sold in ten different countries and regions including Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the MENA region.
