The Indian fine-dining restaurant Tresind has emerged the popular winner among users of the Dubai app Zomato, according to data from the company.
Also in the top five are Shakeism Milkshakes and Zeta Restaurant, all rated 4.9 out of 5, and the local favourite Special Ostadi (4.7) and Nine7one at the Oberoi Dubai (4.6).
But it is pizza that takes pride of place in this fast-food nation.
It was the most searched-for food, followed by pasta, cake, coffee and steak. The city’s residents also want fish, shawarma, sushi and burgers, but not necessarily in that order.
The results are an analysis of Zomato searches in Dubai over the course of 2015. The total number of users was not immediately available.
The city’s average order value was Dh65 and some 63 per cent of users paid cash on delivery.
More than 58 per cent of searches were conducted by users aged 25 to 34. The next popular categories were 18-24 (15 per cent) and 35-44 (16 per cent).
Thursday and Friday are the most popular search days for both genders, while women tend to do more searching on Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, and men do more on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Surprisingly for a region that’s known to eat late at night, dinner searches were mostly run between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, although lunchtime searches fitted into the more expected noon to 3pm.
One little nugget for techies: searches were evenly split by operating system. Android users accounted for 52 per cent of searches, with the rest being iOS users.
Tresind, which is just over a year old, is helmed by the chef Himanshu Saini, and his work has been featured in two Gulf News' cookbooks.
