Dubai: The cricket season has taken off in Dubai and Sharjah with exciting matches being held in the tournaments organised by the respective councils. The available pitches in Dubai and Sharjah are in huge demand following a fall in temperature after the summer heat.

In Dubai Cricket Council’s Gold Cup cricket tournament at the ICCA ground, the match between One Stop Tourism and Globelink West Star ended in a nail-biting tie.

The Sharjah Cricket Council’s T20 Bash organised by Sharjah Cricket Club at Sharjah Cricket Stadium began with Alubond Tigers recording a nail-biting two-run victory over Defender Cricket Club.

In Dubai, Globelink posted 150 runs from their 25 overs. Laxman Sreenivasan hit 54 runs off 59 balls with two sixes and two boundaries while Anfal PM hit 34 runs. Man of the match Umair Ali Khan took four for 23 to restrict Globelink total.

One Stop began their chase losing four wickets for 34 runs with UAE pacer Amjad Javed taking three of those wickets. Still, One Stop looked like cruising towards their target when Shyam Ramesh removed Mohammad Ikram for 32 to end with figures of three for 23, and Javed picking four for 30. Rizwan Inayat was left stranded with an unbeaten 35 although there were four balls left and match ended with scores at level.

In Sharjah, Defenders chasing 136 to win, began badly but Sandeep Singh (45) and along with Farrukh Kazmi (28) put on 77 runs for the second wicket Rizwan Amanat scored an unbeaten 22 off 25 balls but failed to reach the target.
