Dubai: To unify drug prices in the GCC countries, the Drugs Pricing Committee under the UAE Ministry of Health (MoH) held its ninth meeting.
Organised by the Gulf committee of the GCC Health Ministers, under the chairmanship of Dr Ameen Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Practices and Licensing, the meeting aimed to establish cooperation among GCC countries in terms of pricing of medication as well as among local, regional and international pharmaceutical companies.
The unified pricing, introduced by the ministry, reduced the cost of 6,805 medicines by up to 40 per cent. There are 7,500 medicines registered in the UAE.
