Dubai: A Dh60 million community centre will come up in Al Barsha 2 area by mid-2019, it was announced on Monday.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved the construction of Al Barsha Community Centre in Al Barsha 2 area, Dubai Municipality said in a press release.

The Community Centre is being established with the joint cooperation between Dubai Municipality and the Community Development Authority, said Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.

He said the project is coming up on an area of 5,500 square metres of land with 14,500 square metres built-up space at a cost of Dh60 million. It will be ready by mid-2019, Lootah said.

The building, with a basement, ground floor and two upper floors, will be located in the service area allocated to the residential area for nationals in Al Barsha.

The basement parking will be able to accommodate 108 cars, while the ground floor will have a reception counter, a multi-purpose hall, which can be divided into five small halls, a 100-seat theatre, a gallery, men’s and ladies’ prayer rooms and a separate service entrance with all the required facilities.

The first floor will have areas for practising hobbies such as painting, clay modelling and handicrafts, classes for learning cooking and music, a library with children’s section for them to read and learn drawing and computer.

The second-floor will accommodate a sports area with related service facilities, toilets, swimming pools and gyms for men and women, a lounge for electronic games, a cafeteria and administrative offices for the staff, the release said.
