Al Ain: Thick fog once again blanketed Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other areas during morning rush hour on Monday, causing delays on the road.
The fog, however, did not disrupt air travel.
“Flights are operating as normal this morning… [But] as a result of unexpected fog, a small number of flights may experience minor delays,” said an Etihad Airways spokesperson.
Abu Dhabi airport faced major flight disruptions last week in similar weather conditions.
Poor visibility forced traffic to crawl on the roads, particularly in and around Abu Dhabi and some other major highways. Dubai Police also reported a major traffic jam on Shaikh Zayed Road from the fourth bridge towards the Trade Centre tunnel. A traffic police official said foggy conditions demand extra care and reduced speed from motorists.
The conditions were caused by low wind speed, humidity and low night-time temperatures, said weathermen. The weather will continue to be partly cloudy, especially in the northern and eastern areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS.)
Light to moderate winds and a rise in humidity are expected on Monday night and early Tuesday morning in coastal areas. The maximum temperature in inland areas will rise to 36 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 32C. Mountainous areas will see a minimum temperature of 12C with a maximum of 23C, said the NCMS.
