Dubai: Dubai Building Materials Supply Company (DBMSC) A team have recorded a hat-trick of victories in ICC Academy’s three recent indoor tournaments.

Their latest triumph came was in the Sprite Summer Cup Gold division final where they defeated Knight Riders by a 34 runs to stamp their supremacy in indoor cricket this season.

Sky Bridge Freight Solutions (SFS) and Abid Shaka were crowned champions in Silver and Bronze divisions respectively of the same tournament.

Batting first, DBMSC A posted an impressive 73 runs from their allotted 12 overs losing just one wicket. Chasing a big target the Knight Riders could manage only 39 runs.

DBMSC B team too had reached the final of the Silver division but SFS upset their plans for a double triumph. SFS scored 72 runs from their allotted 12 overs. The last pair of DBMSC B needed 21 to win off three overs. With having to score more than run a ball DBMSC batsmen succumbed to the pressure and could manage only 57 runs in the end.

The bronze division final saw Abid Shaka’s Team posted 73, but Faisal11 could manage only 71 runs from their 12 overs.

Speaking to Gulf News, following their three title triumphs DBMSC team owners Nilesh and Sumeet Shewakramani announced that this is the beginning of them becoming the best indoor team in the region. “We have built this team over two years and it is indeed a great feat to achieve a hat-trick. We believe it is just the beginning of more titles to come.”

DBMSC have players like UAE all-rounders Rohan Mustafa and Vikrant Shetty, who despite playing outdoor cricket, takes special interest in playing the indoor version. Team manager Amit Chaturvedi hailed DBMSC skipper Saqib Nazir. “We have the most experienced indoor cricket captain who knows how to build a team and continue winning. In the last one year DBMSC has lost only six matches and have gone from strength to strength.”

The top individual awards in each of the divisions were: Gold division: Man of the final — Rohan Mustafa, Player of the tournament — Rohan Nayak (both from DBMSC — A)

Silver: Man of the final: S. Mateen, player of the tournament: M. Adnan both from DBMSC — B

Bronze: Man of the final: M. Faizi (Abid Shaka Strikers), player of the tournament — T. Ashish (Chargers)
