Sharjah: An Asian cyclist was caught under a speeding pick-up truck in Al Sajja area of Sharjah on Thursday afternoon, a Sharjah Police official told Gulf News on Thursday.
The Sharjah Police operation room received a call about the incident at around 2pm. The accident took place as the driver of the pick-up truck belonging to an industrial company was speeding down the road and the cyclist suddenly tried to cross the road in Al Sajja industrial area, police said.
The cyclist came under the wheels of the pick-up truck after being thrown on the road due to the impact of the collision.
The body was moved to the morgue at Al Qassimi Hospital.
Sharjah Police are trying to establish the identity of the victim given that no official documents were found on his person.
The pick-up driver was sent to police custody.
