Dubai: The UAE Cycling Federation (UAE CF) is one week away from hosting the opening stage of their inaugural UAE Road Cycling Championship.

Scheduled to be held on January 26, the Daman Active Life opening stage will be held over 55 kilometres along the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and will see amateur UAE-based cyclists compete against fellow Emirati and expatriate cyclists for Stage One glory, while competing for valuable points at the same time.

Open to all cyclists across the UAE, with age division categories from 16 years and above, both the Abu Dhabi and Dubai stages will see a stage winner crowned, with the UAE Road Cycling Championship’s Emirati and expatriate champions (men and women) being awarded after the second stage in Dubai.

Both stages will be timed using Mylaps ProChip by Sports Timing Services, where points will accumulate to decide UAE Road Cycling Championship 2018 champions.

“We are very excited to bring the first stage of the inaugural Championship to the Abu Dhabi corniche, and we express our sincere gratitude to the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Cycling Club and the Abu Dhabi Police who will be protecting the participating cyclists through support and managing the rolling road closures along the Corniche,” Osama Al Shafar, President, UAE CF, said.

A special time-limited ten per cent-off offer is currently available for cyclists who register for both the Abu Dhabi and Dubai stages with the cut-off valid till January 21.
