Money down the drain
Recently, I was made understand that Gulf News assists people in addressing fraudulent transactions.
I am a victim of six fraudulent transactions, which amount to Dh1,500. The credit card was issued by Dubai Bank, which subsequently was taken over by Emirates Islamic Bank.
With great difficulty, I approached the relevant authorities to help me, but eventually nothing happened and I was forced to pay the entire amount. The interest and late payment fees on my account were reversed, along with an approximate Dh51, but the rest remains unsettled. My credit card has been cancelled.
I know that case my case is not new, but I am not willing to let go of the money, which was not spent by me in the first place.
Is there way Gulf News can help me recover my money from the bank?
From Mr Malkiat Singh

The management of Emirates Islamic Bank responds:
Thank you for bringing Mr Singh’s concerns to our attention. On behalf of Emirates Islamic, I would like to inform you that we have spoken with the customer and have fully reimbursed the customer to cover the fraudulent transactions. This matter has now been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both the customer and the bank. Emirates Islamic is a customer-centric organisation, truly committed to providing our customers with the very best service. We regret the inconvenience faced by Mr Singh and would like to assure him that appropriate measures have been taken to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
Mr Singh responds:
First of all, many thanks for the intervention. Gulf News’ team has done a job that I couldn’t do from November 2012 till July 2013. I had no hope that I would get my money back, but it has worked out thanks to the newspaper. A representative from Emirates Islamic Bank’s quality department spoke with me and confirmed that they would issue a cheque.
