Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Immigration Court ordered on Monday a Somali woman to pay Dh7,000 fine for overstaying in the country and giving birth to a baby and not legalising his residence.
A senior court official said the woman arrived in the UAE on a visit visa to stay with her husband, a resident of the UAE. The husband's salary does not allow him to obtain a family sponsorship which forced the woman to overstay in RAK.
Then she delivered a baby child, but due to her husband's status she failed to obtain a residency during the four-month grace period which is usually given for newborns.
Meanwhile, the court also ordered a Bangladeshi barber to pay Dh300 fine for failing to process his residence. The court official said the barber had been issued an employment visa and entered the UAE, but failed to process his residence.
The barber told the court that he did not have money to pay the necessary fees to get his residency printed on his passport.
