Dubai: Bin Ham Group, a UAE-based conglomerate that launched the City Seasons hotel chain in 2004, is planning to open its first European hotel in Germany and it is also investing Dh750 million in three more hotels in the next few months, a top official said.

"We are in the process of acquiring the property in a major German city, the details of which will be revealed later," Mohammad Al Ameri, managing director of City Seasons, told Gulf News. "We expect to open the hotel later this year, after refurbishment."

Its five hotels include 1,200 rooms while the three new hotels will have more than 900 rooms which will help meet the growing demand for more hotel rooms in the region.

"We have already invested more than Dh1 billion in developing five hotels in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman and the three new hotels will strengthen our presence in the market," he said. "Our new investment reflects our strong commitment to the region's hospitality market," he added.

City Seasons is one of the many home-grown hotel chains that have emerged from the UAE including Jumeirah, Rotana, Coral, Ramee and Flora, among others. Local hotels have created their niches in a service industry dominated by western hotel chains.

"Our immediate plan is to have a hotel or two in all the major cities in the GCC region, before expanding beyond the region," he said.
