Abu Dhabi: The Internet problems that users in the UAE were facing for the past several days due to cuts in submarine cable systems located between Alexandria and Italy have temporarily been sorted out through the use of substitute cables, an Etisalat spokesman told Gulf News on Sunday.
"Internet services in the UAE are now working fine, but the subsea cables that were damaged need some more time to be fixed," said the spokesman for the UAE's largest telecommunications company.
He said, according to etisalat's engineers, three subsea cables were damaged.
"One of them will be repaired by December 30, while the other two are expected to be repaired by January 4," the spokesman said.
Etisalat's e-marine team is helping in fixing the cables problem in the Med-iterranean Sea.
Etisalat previously said it is working closely with the concerned operators, for urgent repair.
