Abu Dhabi: The sales transactions during the first version of Abu Dhabi Electronics Shopper (ADES 2013), the premier consumer electronics show, reached Dh10 million in the first two days, Antoine George, Dome Exhibitions Managing Director, organisers of the ADES 2013, told Gulf News on Saturday.

“Sales and deals reached Dh10 million and the number of visitors was 24,000. In the first day, the number of visitors was 8,200 and in the second day 15,800,” said George.

He added that due to the lucrative offers and deals by retailers, the number of visitors is expected to increase further.

Abu Dhabi customers are keen to have such expos which offer discount more than the market, said George.

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Emax, told Gulf News that the sales far exceeded their expectations. “We achieved our budget within two days. That is, our sales in the expo are more than doubled and this reflects that there is a big momentum. The number of visitors on Saturday is expected to reach 20,000,” said Bhatnagar.

Dony Cyril, Exhibitions Director of ADES 2013, said that the organisers opened a new hall to accommodate the visitors.

“This is a new initiative in Abu Dhabi. It seems that the number of visitors will encourage retailers to increase their participation next year,” said Cyril.

“The retailers have very big offers on the items compared to market prices. This has encouraged many people to come and buy the most advanced technological items,” he remarked.

Cyril pointed out that there are still three more days and it is expected that the sales will be more than retailers expectations and that justifies why they have many staff members and many new boxes with new items to be displayed.
