Dubai: Gitex Technology Week witnessed the launch of a slew of eservices across government entities.
Smartphone applications, TV programmes, e-system, e-step, e-mart — all these initiatives have been launched to enhance the ease of doing business across sectors.
Sami Al Qamzi, Director-General of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai (DED), said: “Dubai is witnessing an increasing number of business services due to the government’s policy focus and infrastructure development, well-aligned to business and investment. The private sector is not just a beneficiary but also a primary stakeholder in any improvements in Dubai’s business climate and, therefore, we are keen to engage with them in our economic development initiatives.”
Today, Dubai business owners can process hundreds of licensing procedures of their firms through their iPhones, iPads and other smartphones in both Arabic and English.
“While we have these services through our website, the department has sought different options to make these services available,” Mohammad Shael Al Sa’adi, chief executive officer of DED’s Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) Sector, told Gulf News.
The service app includes renewal and registration of companies, trade name reservation, renewal of trade names, initial approval of licenses, renewal of licences, payment of licence fees and fines, as well as company search [for existing companies operating in Dubai.
The app has been designed by the IT division team in DED, Al Sa’adi said.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Land Department is offering an e-step service, which allows people to finalise the property sale procedures at their doorstep. It also offers real estate transactions such as sale, mortgage and leasing.
The clients can request the service through department’s official website, and then use the e-appointment system to book appointments. Then department’s staff will then go to the clients to finalise the procedures.
The documents don’t need signature as they would be authenticated with a barcode.
Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director-General of Dubai Land Department, said: “The Land Department seeks to enhance the e-transformation process in the framework of its strategy to upgrade the government services provided to customers and investors.”
E-Mart is yet another service launched by the land department to list properties for sale and to exchange property information easily.
The self-registration service facilitates the businesses of developers in Dubai, Bin Mejren said. Through this, developers can process and register certain procedures through the system including sale, resale, mortgage and so on.
