Dubai: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has started issuing “Absher” cards to UAE citizens at Gitex Technology Week, GITEX 2014.

The initiative, which was launched under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was supervised by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and managed by the Ministry of Labour. It calls upon UAE nationals to join the programme aimed at motivating them to take jobs opportunities in the private sector and benefit from unmatched offers.

Salem Al Mutawa, Deputy Director of Absher office in the Ministry of Labour, said that the ministry has equipped an integrated unit for participants at GITEX that prints Absher cards on the spot to those who meet the conditions required by the ministry.

“The ministry requires checking-up the citizen’s identity card, plus working for a minimum of six month within his/her current company in the private sector.”

He pointing out that the card provides privileges and special discounts, in order to motivate them to join the private sector.

During the exhibition, visitors to the MoL booth viewed an e-page that lists the main conditions required to obtain the Absher card, including the features and offerings it provides to all citizens, reaching over 6 thousand beneficiaries by the end of 2013.
