Abu Dhabi: Etisalat, one of the UAE’s leading telecom service providers, is harnessing the latest wireless technologies via the implementation of a state of the art mobile NFC solution from Gemalto, the global digital security player.

The solution enables etisalat’s staff to access its offices and facilities securely with a single tap of the employee’s mobile phone to a contactless reader. The new solution reflects etisalat’s commitment to innovation and to achieving the UAE’s leadership vision of smart cities.

Mobile NFC can be used for authorising and initiating office support tasks such as printing, scanning, and file sharing. This ensures document confidentiality while maintaining an efficient and seamless authentication process that assures the highest efficiency for the corporate daily operations.

Khaled Al Khouly, Chief Marketing Officer, etisalat, said, “Etisalat is evolving into a truly integrated service provider by introducing smart solutions and mobile apps that can make modern living in our smart cities easier, whether it’s in the office, at home, or when shopping or travelling.”

“We believe that working with Gemalto, one of global NFC technology leaders will help us provide our team with best technology available,” Al Khouly added.

Eric Claudel, President for Middle East and Africa at Gemalto, said, “This deployment reflects the true potential of NFC technology which opens the door to many more new services on mobile. Etisalat is playing a key role in putting the UAE at the forefront of this mobile revolution, using the power of this technology to deliver smart services to its employees but also potentially to its corporate customers.”

Etisalat offers Mobile NFC-enabled services to the Public Transport in Dubai serving metro, bus and water bus travellers, and in future for micropayments in the UAE.
