Dubai: Dubai-based retailer Al Maya Group has launched a range of home appliance products under Tenku branding, a senior official said.
"We are introducing initially eight models, including a blender, kettle, coffee maker, hand mixer, chopper, hand blender, juicer and toaster.
"In addition to this we propose to launch two models for each of these home appliances," Kamal Vachani, Al Maya Group director told Gulf News.
This is the first such venture by the group which runs a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets across the UAE, will now be able to sell its own banded home appliances. These products will be made available in all Al Maya supermarkets and hypermarkets.
"In Dubai we have 11 outlets, three in Sharjah, two in Ajman, two in Al Ain and one in Abu Dhabi.
"We propose to market these initially only in our supermarkets and hypermarkets and then proceed to other department stores," he said.
"We have earmarked separate space in all our supermarkets and hypermarket to display Tenku brand in such a manner that the customers notices and also giving free demonstration to the customers for hassle free environment for choosing Tenku brand products."
In addition to Al Maya Hypermarket, the products will be available at Jesco supermarkets, Citi Mart supermarket, Shop N Save supermarkets and Al Ain City Centre.
Vachani added, "These items are popular in every household and we will be introducing more and more household products under the Tenku brand in the near future.
Demonstration
"We have also earmarked a separate section for Tenku brand household products, where customers can shop in a friendly atmosphere and also have a demonstration of the products in our supermarkets."
The products, he said, are outsourced from different parts of the world, although the brand has been registered with the UAE.
