Dubai: UAE courier firm Aramex has suspended shipments from Yemen as a security measure after two US-bound parcels bombs sent from the impoverished Gulf state were intercepted in Britain and Dubai.
"Shipments originating from Yemen have been suspended until further notice," Hussein Hachem, chief executive for Aramex in the Middle East and Africa region said in an email.
"We are currently examining the full details of the specific threats and we will put in place procedures to safeguard the movement of our shipments across the network."
Security measures have been stepped up since the two parcel bombs were intercepted on cargo planes last week.
The bomb plot is thought to be the work of Al Qaida's Yemen-based regional arm, Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, US officials say.
