Dubai: Visionary, inspiring, talented, genius… these words filled the air and circulated over the internet yesterday. They were used to describe former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who succumbed to cancer.

Apple products defined a culture and changed the way we think about the world and technology.

Gulf News readers share how Jobs' inventions influenced their lives.

Assia Merazi, an Algerian national residing in Dubai, does not consider herself as tech-savvy, but is loyal to Apple products — she owns an iMac, iPhone and an iPad.

She said: "My iPhone and iPad act as a third person and this third person connects me to everyone."

As a graphic designer, Merazi heavily depends on design programs to create her projects.

She said: "Nothing beats Apple when it comes to creativity — they have made it easy to use and powerful enough to sustain the programs I need to work on large files."

Due to its mobility, Merazi said she is able to be more organised in her social and professional life.

Sura Nasser's life revolves around Apple — she sells it, uses its products and designs her work using its programs.

Nasser, a New Zealander residing in Abu Dhabi, said: "I am a designer and I have been using my iMac for years to get my work done. Now, I am selling special edition Apple products, my life and business depend completely on Jobs' legacy."

But it does not stop there for Nasser. Jobs' creativity, innovation and marketing of the Apple products have inspired her in many of her own designs. When asked to describe Jobs, Nasser said: "He was a brilliant man."
