Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Gitex Technology Week 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre for the second successive day.

He visited the Dubai Customs platform at the Dubai Smart Government’s stand where he was received by Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World and of the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), and Ahmad Mahboub Musbeh, Director of Dubai Customs.

Shaikh Mohammad praised the level of smart services and applications as well as smart workplace and smart TV creations that were also introduced for the first time at the exhibition, in addition to DC smart services and innovative initiatives showcased at the technology exhibition.

He listened to presentations by DC staff on smart applications and innovative technological initiatives and was also briefed on the amphibious vehicle, which is equipped with 10 solar-powered gadgets that enable it to run uninterrupted around the clock. He was also briefed on the Customs Unmanned Submarine for tactical underwater inspections of vessel hulls.

Shaikh Mohammad also familiarised himself with the smart baggage inspection system, the first of its kind in the world, which represents an innovative multifunctional integrated design aimed at ensuring a streamlined passengers flow while maintaining protection levels. The device is capable of scanning handheld baggage in a seamless real-time procedure.
