Dubai: Samsung is showcasing its new smart watches — Gear S2 Classic and S2 Sport — which has a round face, for the first time.
Hayssam Yassine, head of division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, told Gulf News, said that it comes with a stainless steel body and that is slim and sleek.
It has a digital crown as well as a rotating bezel to open different apps and features.
The S2 Classic is 42mm wide by 50mm tall and weighs 47 grams while the Classic is 40mm by 44mm and weighs 42 grams.
Yassine said that the Classic’s strap can be changed and it can fit any normal leather strap while the Sport has an attached rubber strap.
The display is powered by 1.2-inch circular AMOLED with dual-core 1 GHz processor and houses 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage capacity.
He said the device can be charged wirelessly and the 250mAh battery can last 48 hours.
Both devices are water and dust resistant and can be immersed in water in a depth of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes.
Even though the watches run on Tizen operating system, Yassine said the device is compatible with Android Wear and supports certain functions of iOS but he did not give more details.
Regarding connectivity, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.
Yassine said the watches will be available within one month in the UAE. The Sport will be priced around Dh1,000 and around Dh1,200 for Classic.
