Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday toured Gitex Technology Week 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre

Accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad toured various stands and halls where he was briefed on the latest IT trends and products as well as smart applications, the best IT and security solutions for transactions and net works protection against hacking.

Shaikh Mohammad said Gitex is a global technological event in which students, researchers, inventors, trainers, traders, consumers, and global companies are taking part.

“Gitex is one of the most important events hosted by the UAE, which is a highly active trade hub that attracts investors, tourists and many community segments from the region and the world,” he said.

Shaikh Mohammad instructed competent authorities in Dubai, particularly the Dubai World Trade Centre to give this major event more attention in terms of expansion, organisation, management and hospitality, respect for exhibitors and visitors, as well as to come up with new creative ideas that make Gitex the world’s number one technology exhibition,

He started his tour at Dubai Internet City’s stand where he viewed the city’s model that shows its plan for building and equipping an innovation centre to become a nucleus for other centres in Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad stopped at South Korea’s stand, which showcases Robot Pavilion and updated himself on the company’s innovations in making smart robots that are used for various facilities in serving people.

On the third leg of his tour, Shaikh stopped at Microsoft’s stand where he listened to a presentation on a smart remote control device that is used for traffic safety, which is showcased for the first time in the region.

He then visited the Saudi stand, one of the largest four stands in Gitex, where he viewed the smart car used as part of police and security patrols and a mobile operation room equipped with the latest technology and devices available in operation rooms.

Shaikh Mohammad also visited the stands of giant companies Google and Samsung and viewed their latest programs and hi-tech products.

He then visited the Abu Dhabi Smart Government’s stand where he was briefed on the new smart applications and services provided by Abu Dhabi government departments and organisations through a unified portal.

Shaikh Mohammad also stopped at the stands of some federal government bodies and viewed their smart services.
