Dubai: Apple CEO Tim Cook said that his recent trip to India was to learn about the country.

“It was a learning tour — to learn about the people, and learn about the culture and learn how business is run [and] learn the priorities of government.” he told Gulf News.

One of the thing that Cook learnt was an appreciation for cricket.

“I loved it,” he said. “I’m am totally hooked on it. There is a lot of excitement there, and I love to see people getting into something.”

He also said that one of the thing he liked most was the diversity of those playing the game.

“It’s a signal of the beauty of diversity, because that team is stronger,” although he also said he loved symbolism and the energy in the stadium.

Cook visited India was part of an initiative to promote Apple in the country, which is seen as the next big markets for the California-based company. While there, Apple also announced an app accelerator in Hyderabad to promote Indian developers.
