Dubai: The “godfather of advertising” Joseph Ghossoub has left  Menacom, one of the leading communications conglomerate in the Middle East, with immediate effect.

Young & Rubicam, a creative agency that is part of Menacom confirmed to Gulf News on Tuesday that Ghossoub has quit from his dual roles as head of Menacom Group and Y&R Middle East.

“Y&R confirms that Joseph Ghossoub has resigned from his dual roles as chairman and CEO of Menacom Group and Y&R Middle East, effective immediately,” a spokesperson said.

Also effective immediately, Roy Haddad, WPP’s Director of Middle East and North Africa, steps in as interim chairman with full management authority and responsibility.

“We will name a successor in the near future,” the company said.

Ghossoub has been recognised for his lifelong dedication to help the communities in the Arab World. In 2009, he was awarded the Pontifical Order of Knighthood, one of the highest recognitions given by the Holy See.

Menacom also includes public relations companies ASDA'A Burson-Marsteller, Raee and Polaris; direct marketing specialists Wunderman and advertising agencies Intermarkets and Partnership.
