Abu Dhabi: With an eye on the Middle East market, Rosatom, a Russian government-owned nuclear company, has opened an office in Dubai.
The new office will serve as the company’s headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa region, the company announced in a statement.
Alexander Merten, President of Rosatom International Network, said Rosatom has a long and successful history of cooperation in the region.
“Starting from cooperation on research reactors projects in the 1960s, today we are conducting projects that include isotopes, natural uranium and enriched uranium supplies, radioactive waste management, as well as such large-scale projects as nuclear power plants construction,” he said.
The nuclear company is involved in a number of projects in the region including supplying natural uranium and enriched uranium for the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE. Its other projects include construction of nuclear power plants in Egypt, Jordan and Turkey and construction of two new units of the Bushehr power plant in Iran.
