Dubai: Aidan Birkett, the Chief Restructuring Officer of conglomerate Dubai World, will step down on Thursday (October 14) to pave the way for a new, permanent management structure, the company said in a statement.

Dubai World and its subsidiaries continue to be supervised by the Supreme Committee, which was established by the Government of Dubai earlier this year. The Supreme Committee developed a restructuring plan which was presented in March and which has since received formal support from over 99 per cent of Dubai World's creditors.

The Supreme Committee exercises all the executive powers of the board of Dubai World and has ultimate responsibility for the management of the company, the statement said.

It is chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and includes Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer and Mohammad Ibrahim Al Shaibani.
