Abu Dhabi: Several companies announced new ventures and technologies at the Abu Dhabi International Petroluem Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) Tuesday.
US-based offshore accommodation specialist HB Rentals said it has been awarded two multi-million dollar contracts in the region and has already shipped over Dh8 million worth of equipment to the UAE.
The company's first contract saw it supply 13 offshore accommodation units to Jan De Nul in Saudi Arabia. The 32x11-foot A60 Safe Area Modules comprise 68 beds, a galley, mess room and server as well as recreational facilities.
The second contract is with Global Processing Systems (GPS) for the provision of eight 8-man A60 accommodation units and two A60 office modules for one of the company's Lift Boats, located offshore Abu Dhabi.
Demand
Deidre Toups, president of HB Rentals, said: "We are delighted to be opening offices in the Middle East. This is in direct response to demand from clients and falls on the back of two significant contract wins in the region. We anticipate this initial activity will trigger significant future opportunities for us, particularly as exploration and production budgets are expected to rise in the oil and gas industry.

Oilfield service company Expro, a UK-based oil and gas well management business, also showcased its new technology for the first time. It recently introduced a range of sonar-based metres in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The company says that Expro Meters offer round-the-clock, 24/7 well surveillance and provide operators with "a permanent solution to their wellhead production surveillance needs". Chris Mawtus, Chief Operating Officer of Expro, said: "Adipec is one of the most important events for Expro in the Gulf, providing a platform to demonstrate the strengths of our existing technologies, and to highlight the technological advances that we continue to bring to the regional market place.
Expro's investment in technology enhances the range of bespoke solutions that we can offer our customers."
