UAE companies are stepping up their recruitment drive, with some of them offering  thousands of positions in one job fair alone.

The Tawdheef Recruitment Fair, a three-day event that starts on Monday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, is offering 7,500 positions mainly for UAE nationals.

However, a source told Gulf News that some of the participating employers may have vacancies on offer for non-Emiratis as well. According to a job recruitment site, there are around 6,000 jobs advertised daily on at least one online portal.

Companies offering jobs at Tawdheef include the Abu Dhabi Terminals, Mubadala Development Company, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, Schlumberger, Emirates Nationals Development Programme and New York University Abu Dhabi.

Standard Chartered, another participating employer, said it seeks to raise awareness on its various graduate programmes and meet UAE nationals who may be qualified to join its multi-cultural team of over 70 nationalities.

According to Suhail Masri, vice president for sales at Bayt.com, there are about 6,000 positions advertised daily on their website.

The company's recent survey found that 67 per cent of UAE employers are looking to hire in the next three months.

"The UAE has always been a very active market with some of the highest number of job listings in the region," Masri told Gulf News.

Jobseekers visiting the Tawdheef event will learn a few tricks to improve their CV writing skills, one of the challenges people face while on the lookout for a new job.

The three day-fair is held under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of culture, Youth and Community Development.

Also held alongside the show is the Emirati Youth Forum, as part of the Emiratisation Summit 2015.

Organisations in the UAE have recently stepped up their Emiratisation efforts. Etihad Airways announced last week plans to boost the number of UAE nationals employed in the airline.

The UAE flag carrier said more than 6,000 Emiratis will be offered jobs over the next five years.
