When celebrity artist Andy Warhol said, "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes," he didn't have any prior knowledge of the internet which of course didn't exist in 1968. But now that future is here it seems he was right, with the Web seemingly granting everyone their own 15 minutes of fame.

A sample of this phenomenon happened this week in England, Azura Beebeejaun, a nine-year-old girl was captured on Google's street view lying on the pavement on a street in England, "playing dead" when her picture was taken.

The Daily Mail said the photos of the girl's body scared the neighbourhood and they called the internet company and the newspaper to report it. The scene resembles a running over, and many were outraged at the possibility of the Google car which passed through the street and did not attempt to rescue the girl. Fortunately, the girl was found safe and sound, loving all the attention the internet had given her.

"I'm quite chuffed I'm on the internet. It is quite funny and I can't wait to tell my classmates when I go back to school," she told the Daily Mail in England.

Another famous living dead is the creative advertiser Tom Phillips from Exposure Agency in the US. He created a website called The Dead Photos where he takes photos of himself splayed out in all manner of poses as a corpse, dead to the world. It can be morbid but some pictures are very provocative. You can check out the entire series at www.thedeadphotos.com

The 7- inch iPad

The rumours about the arrival of a miniature iPad gain strength — this time, it is speculated that LG would manufacture the screens helping Foxconn assemble the smaller tablets. If it is true, kids should have an iPad 7" screen, Cortex A9 processor and 512MB of RAM (same as the iPhone 4) and screen resolution identical to the larger model, 9.7", offering a much better quality picture. The expectation is that the iPad Mini will reach the market later this year or early 2011.

More iPad...

A survey of iPad owners in the UK showed that most people prefer to read newspapers and magazines on the iPad. While 31 per cent say they prefer the iPad, 26 per cent enjoy reading more on laptops/computers and 24 per cent are fans of printed publications. Cellphones and e-readers were left with 12 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. 43 per cent of Apple's tablet users say they use the gadget for more than 10 hours per week, for one quarter of them the unit is already the main source of entertainment.

Don't lose the opportunity

The Dior store in New York is going through a renovation of their emporium but instead of the usual boarded-up look, the luxury retailer has opted for a massive Lady Dior bag. The bag covers up the mess and acts as a perfect marketing opportunity. The store reopens in the second week of December. Proof that everything you do can be turned into a potential opportunity to build your brand.
